Serco Prize For Illustration 2014

This is a piece of work I entered for the Serco Prize for Illustration 2014 towards the end of last year.
I'm pleased to say the illustration entitled "The Guardians of the Tower" has been shortlisted for the exhibition which opens Friday 14th February at the London Transport Museum, Covent Garden.

The brief was to produce a poster on the theme of "London Stories" and I chose to illustrate the legend surrounding the Tower of London. Legend has it that six ravens must guard the Tower at all times, otherwise the Tower will fall into the Thames.
Whilst producing the work the legend was put to the test when a fox got into the Tower and two of the ravens were killed.
Fortunately two ravens were waiting in the wings to take over duties and the Tower remains standing to this day! (If you look closely the fox lurks somewhere in the final artwork!)

Hi Nathan,

I was in the ltmuseum in 2014, just in time to see your drawing (amongst other equally marvelous ones), turned into posters that were being sold in the museum shop. I failed to buy your poster that time, together with the one "There is a whale in the Thames" and I fully regret that decision today. Do you believer there is any way I can get to buy yours this time? I entered the museum´s website but they no longer seem to be selling those. Maybe you know of any other institution in London that may have those reproductions? I seize the opportunity to congratulate you for your marvelous art and taste. True masterpieces for me. I leave you greetings from Buenos Aires. Valeria.
